EFL Chairperson Dr. Eric Wikramanayake, also a Conservation Biologist, spoke in November 2018 at the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP14) as part of the UN Biodiversity Conference 2018. Dr. Wikramanayake presented a project by EFL on ‘Integrated Spatial Planning and Analysis to Prioritise Biodiversity Conservation in Sri Lanka’ funded by the Japan Biodiversity Fund (JBF) of the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (SCBD).

One main objective of the conference was to create a platform for developing countries to present their conservation efforts to the world, share and discuss common challenges and to develop further capacity to conduct biodiversity conservation projects in their own countries.I am text block. On the seventh day of the #COP14 (14th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity) of the #UNBiodiversityConference2018, Dr. Wikramanayake participated in the Rio Conventions Pavilion.
The Forum called ‘Into the Future: The Post-2020 Frameworks’, focused on exploring the biodiversity mitigation hierarchy as a tool for engaging industry and finance in effective biodiversity management.
